Formatting All Drives including root

Hi,
I am getting ready to excess
one of my old 750's running
10.20. What is the best
way to initilize/format all
of the drives including the
root drive. Is there a way
to do it from a boot tape?

Thanks
Joyce

Re: Formatting All Drives including root

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rdsk/c0t6d0

and

rm -rf /*

for the root drive.

Re-install HPUX. This will erase everything on the disk. ( If the disk is working!) or try mediainit command.

Also try 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/vg00/rvol#' for lvols 4 through 8 or higher in /dev/vg00 from / in single user mode.

Re: Formatting All Drives including root

I Do a blank HP-UX installation to clean machines. If I include all disk drives, everything is cleaned up.

Then you can do a make_tape_recovery tape and use that to boot and clean up other machines.
