Fortran for HPUX 11.00
We have HP9000 J6000 workstation with HPUX 11.00, we are using it for CAD applications, One f project needs the following application to be installed.
LS-DYNA version 960
The application's document says the minimal requirement for installing on HPUX is
Fortran 2.5.9
Command to get OS and Fortran version numbers
HP/HPUX : uname -a f90 +version
The document gives similar info. for other platforms also, and when we check for the Fortran version in other platforms it gives, and in HPUX it doesn't show (f90 +version). Fortran is not installed in the system, But users wanted some basic lib/headers of fortran , not the compiler, in SGI system also they didn't buy fortran but there are some basic lib came in built,
We came to know that Fortran is a codeword protected s/w.
Now the query is
1. What is the minimal fortran components built in the o/s (11.00)?? Can we get some release number details?
2. Or is it the only way to buy the compiler for fortran and use?
3. can we install any basic components (headers, lib...) of fortran in system? if yes/ details.
Kindly help us.
thanks in advance,

Re: Fortran for HPUX 11.00
1. The majority of libs you will need to just run a fortran compiled binary should be contained in /usr/lib as part of the core O/S install eg /usr/lib/libF90.sl ...version ? ->I've checked the /usr/share/doc/release notes and chatr and what on the above lib yield no clues ... swlist might ?
It would help if I knew which libs you are after ...
2. Again depends on which libs you need, I'd say most would be supplied with the O/S + fortran cummulative patch eg PHSS_15912. Might be wise to mention this to your vendor. You would need to install the F90 product if you plan to start compiling your own code.
3. Core O/S and F90 patches are about your lot.
