I would like to make a DVD copy of the two HP-UX 11iv2 FOE DVDs and make it bootable too, just like the original DVDs.
Is it possible to make such copy? What program do you advise me to use? How do I make the copied DVDs bootable? Are there any aditional options I should consider?
Best regards,
Miguel Rentes

Solutionsystem, or Windows, or what? I normally use
cdrtools (readcd and cdrecord, on a VMS
system) to do things like this. I haven't
tried it on HP-UX, but I'd assume that
there's a good chance of things working
there, too.
The latest (DVD-capable) source kit should be
available at:
ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/
Any program (on any system) which can make a
simple copy, without thinking about what it's
copying, should be able to do the job. If
the original disc was bootable, then an
accurate copy should also be bootable.
Making a bootable disc may be complicated
when you're constructing the disc's file
system yourself, but you're not doing that
when you make a simple copy.

Re: Foundation Operating Environment DVDs copy
If you want to create your own bootable media, have a look at this (from the ignite manual):
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5992-3336/ch12s03.html
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Foundation Operating Environment DVDs copy
I'm trying to make a copy in Windows XP SP2. Does anyone hava tried to copy HP-UX DVDs within Windows?
I've just finished copied the DVDs contents into a local folder and are now going to try to record and make new bootable DVDs.

Re: Foundation Operating Environment DVDs copy
In Linux I have Brasero and GnomeBaker.
So I only have to do a "clone DVD"?

Re: Foundation Operating Environment DVDs copy
If that's what your program calls it.
Normally, you end up making an image file
(often called an "ISO", even when it really
isn't one), and then writing that directly to
the destination disc. Some programs may hide
the details, but that's what happens.

Re: Foundation Operating Environment DVDs copy
I just did a "clone DVD" which makes me a ISO file prior to recording it to a clean DVD. I tested the recorded DVD and it worked fine.
Thanks for your answers!
Best regards,
