and the Support Plus patch bundle it asked for
(11.00). Will it completely restore my system
( at least the critical filesystems )overwriting the current kernel and SW and Patch
installation info?
Would the syntax suffice ( remote backup ):
frecover -r -f remote:/dev/rmt/0m -s
Trusted access is already in place. I realize the "make_tape_recovery" is the better option
( or ignite ), but for now this is all I have to work with.
Thanks,
Randy

Solutionsam
backup and recovery
interactive backup and recovery.
Don't restore root fs / files. Restore other filesystems as needed.
To fully recovery a system you need to use make_tape_recovery to restore the system to bootable status, followed by some other methed fbackup/frecover for example to restore other files.
Neither Ignite nor fbackup will get clean, usable backups of open database files such as oracle. To get clean copies of these, you need to have them shut down or use other tools.

Re: frecover "complete restore"?
I would add the -o option or -y option.

Re: frecover "complete restore"?
as time is critical and I really don't want to reload again if I don't have to.
Thanks,
Randy

Re: frecover "complete restore"?
I am sorry.
frecover is not the tool to restore vg00. If i am correct you reinstalled vg00 and you have a backup of vg00 ( fbackup ). I would only restore data from this backup no system files!!

Gideon
