frecover restart file
We had an frecover process end when a helpful soul removed the tape. frecover ended when it could not write to tape, and did not offer to restart or create a restart file.
Does anyone know the format of the restart file? I have the information on all files to be restored and those that actually were. I was hoping to manually create the restart file instead of starting from the begining

Re: frecover restart file
I haven't seen any document that describes the restart file but frecover will skip files that have already been restored. If the file on the disk is older (or not there), then it will be replaced, but if it is the same date (or newer), frecover will skip restoring it. Because fbackup/frecover can use fast search marks, the tape can be rapidly positioned to the next file which should save a lot of time.
