To look at the index .. (assuming yr tape device is c2t2d0)
# frecover -I /tmp/index -f /dev/rmt/c2t2d0
# more /tmp/index

Re: frecover
Are you putting a path after the -I switch?

Re: frecover
frecover option -I & -V cannot be used together.
Use "frecover -I yourfile ..." to get an index of files on backup.
Use "frecover -V yourfile ..." to get the Volume header of the backup.
regards,
Thierry.

Re: frecover
You can generate the index file of fbackup as
frecover -I /tmp/filename -f /dev/rmt/Xm
...BPK...

Re: frecover
Therefor a *pseudo* restore, using the "-N" option, is the safest. "-N" will do everything, *except* the actual restore:
/usr/sbin/frecover -r[m]vN -f /dev/rmt/... 2>/tmp/filelist

Re: frecover
I think "frecover -r -vN -f /dev/rmt/0m" will list the files / directories on the backup media without restoring them to the disk.
Hope this helps.
thanks
