fsck on raw disk used by informix

Hi folks,
We are in process of migrating data from on EMC san box to another EMC san box.
I have a question here .
Once I see disk from new storage I do vgimport ,then run fsck on all mounted device
fsck /dev/vg01/rlvol1.
But we have raw valume for informix which are not mounted volume /dev/vg01/rxyzabc1
Do I have run fsck for volume which are alocated to informix , or any harm if we run fsck for informix raw volume ?
Pleae share your experience ..

Hi,

your raw device has no filesystem in it - so it makes no sense to run fsck - which is the short name for 'filesystem check'.
You'll have to use informix inernal function to check the consistency.

Hi mohan

you have mounted the lvol, not rlvol.

So when you run fsck you must do it in upto lvol in a volume group.

run fsck after unmount the file system.

raw volume is what, when there is no file system. if you want to do so unallocate from application then run fsck.
