FTP and HPUX 11.0

I am trying to set up an FTP user that is restricted to a single directory, while not stopping root from being able to ftp. In 10.20 this was easy enough to do, however I am having problems doing this in 11.0 without getting 530 errors on anyone else that tries to use ftp, including when I try to log in as root.

I have used the HP Document on "How to setup a restricted user for FTP access", but this method doesn't allow anyone elso to be able to ftp.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Hi,

Check this thread:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x8dac3fa720f3d5118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html

HP-UX 11.00 uses wu-ftpd.

Hope this helps. Regards.

Hi,

You can get the already compiled version of wu_ftpd from the porting centre.

Re: FTP and HPUX 11.0

I would recommend that you get the Pure-FTP server rather then wuftp since that later has had lots of security problems. You'll probably have to compile it from source as I haven't been able to find a prepacked version, but this should be fairly straightforward and easy.

Hope this helps.
