I met a very strange situation. These days I often found one of our HPUX server was down abnormally. The os level of the server is hpux11.0. As I restart it and checked in OLDsyslog.log, I found before system crash there was a ftp session finished. The time of the OLDsyslog.log is just the time ftp session finished. The ftp session is from a IBM server as a cron job. Execute two times a day. One in the morning, the other in the noon. The file size is below 1M.
This happened for several times. I heard on Solaris a big size ftp transfer could cause system crash. Some patch could solve it. Is it same on HPUX? Please help.

Re: ftp caused system reboot?
Yes, you need to patch your server to the latest available in ITRC. Do a search here,

Re: ftp caused system reboot?
Is there a crash dump during the reboot?
In addition, have you checked your logs before the automatic reboot such as /var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log and syslog ?
Please check this link whcih says about some patch requirement for ftp.

Hope this helps,
