ftp error pam_acct_mgmt
Dear all,
I cannot ftp to one HPUX 11.00 host using any working account. inet spawns a listening ftpd so I think ftp is working fine. I can successfully initiate an ftp process from the problem host to another host. I can also connect from the host to another host Suprisingly, other methods of logging in to the problem host work successfully.
To fault find I unsuccessfully tried to ftp from the hpux 11.00 host back onto itself (to prove no network issues are involved). In syslog I get the error:
pam_acct_mgmt:General Commercial Security error
Any help appreciated,
I will add the solution here when fixed.

Re: ftp error pam_acct_mgmt
Dear TG,
Thanks for being so prompt, You have found the right doco. I didn't notice it.
This host is missing two files in /tcb/files/ ttys and devassign.
I have diffed these files from a couple of hosts set up in the same manner and they are identical.
I copied them over and it works fine now.
Interestingly, I had noticed earlier that although the change to a trusted system for this host completed OK at the second attempt we did have undiagnosed errors on the first go and this must have been, or been part of the legacy.
Thanks again,
Damian
