Re: ftp error
OK..Here is a very strange update...on the machine where i am able to copy i see the raw volumes under a filesystem(stange) for ex. if /opt/oracle is the filesystem then i have both rREDOLOG1 and REDOLOG1 under /opt/oracle. my question is how can we do lvcreate giving the full path name? how is the raw volume under a filesystem path? how do you create it at the first place?
Thanks
Brian.
Thanks
Brian.

Re: ftp error
Shalom,
An oracle raw disk area is not a regular file. It can not be transferred system to system with ftp.
I have successfully seen transfers of such disk areas in the following methods:
1) Ignite replication of the entire system including raw disk areas. make_tape_recovery and make_net_recovery
2) dd commands, via network.
