ftp hang transfer aborted receive error
Hi,
trying to ftp from unix to mainframe, sometimes
we have following error-messages:
Connected to mf51.dolmen.be.
220-FTPD1 IBM FTP CS V1R2 at PC04, 20:27:01 on 2003-12-04.
220 Connection will close if idle for more than 5 minutes.
Remote system type is MVS.
331 Send password please.
230 FTPXPSB is logged on. Working directory is "FTPXPSB.".
250 "" is the working directory name prefix.
200 SITE command was accepted
200 Port request OK.
125 Appending to data set PERS.BNC98.V01.PROD
451 Transfer aborted due to receive error.
(mode and file-name) usage: chmod mode file-name
221 Quit command received. Goodbye.
If we try the same thing again, it works.
We cannot 'force' this error.
Any ideas?
Thx in advance.

Re: ftp hang transfer aborted receive error
You are sending data up to the mainframe, and from time to time it rejects it.
You need help with the mainframe end, it's the MVS ftp server that's doing this.
Is there maybe an MVS forum somewhere on the IBM website ??

Computers make it easier to do a lot of things, but most of the things they make it easier to do don't need to be done.

Re: ftp hang transfer aborted receive error
Graham is probably right here but it could also be a comms error. You might want to have someone look over the connection.
Never preceed any demonstration with anything more predictive than "watch this"
