Hi Frederick:

No, but you get use 'mget' or 'mput' to pass multiple files at once.

Standart ftp client doen't have such feature for uploading/downloading whole directories - http://docs.hp.com/en/B9106-90007/ftp.1.html

Start ftp server on HP-UX machine and connect with some Windows client (WS_FTP, FlashFXP) and download it.

I'm not sure why you would want a Unix directory structure on your PC. Do you want to access Unix files from your PC? Then Samba is your answer, not ftp. HP calls their Samba implementation CIFS and it is available at no charge from http://software.hp.com.

In any case, I do not recommend the use of ftp. ftp is NOT secure and should not be used. A far better utility is secure shell. On the PC side you should use PuTTY and WinSCP. Use Google to find these. You will need to install/implement secure shell (ssh) on the HP system. Ask further questions here if you have difficulties implementing ssh.

The main reason you cannot use Unix directories on your PC is that your PC does not support Unix commands. You could use a find command to get all the directories. It would look something like:
find . -type d -exec tar cvf /tmp/dirfile.tar {} \;

This will create a tarfile with just the directory structure that you are looking for. But unless you have the MKS extensions for your XP system, you will not be able to untar the file.

You should probably clarify your question.

Re: FTP, HPUX 11.11, DIRECTORIES

Wget is, I believe, available for Windows,
and it offers a recursive option for FTP,
which might be useful in a case like this
(if you still wish to do what you said you
wished to do).

http://www.gnu.org/software/wget/wget.html

As usual, it might help to know what the real
goal (or problem to be solved) is. Asking
how to implement a poor solution to a problem
tends to lead to a poor solution to that
problem. Asking how to solve the real
problem may lead to a better solution to the
problem.
