FTP'ing Using User Accts Created by NIS

I have just installed 11.0 onto a K580, and all seems to be well with everything except FTP. I can ftp to the system using any local account, but when I try to use an account created by NIS and pushed out, it fails. Permissions seem proper on the home directories, but as soon as I attempt to ftp in, it fails, before even asking for a password. This I do not understand. If you have been down this road before, I would appreciate your answers.

Many thanks.

Hi ,
you need to do following things for using ftp through NIS ids.

edit file /etc/nsswitch.conf and add/modify following entry in it.

services: nis [NOTFOUND=continue] files

protocols: nis [NOTFOUND=continue] files

this serve your purpose.
