FTP: Login incorrect

Hi,

We have multiple Secure HP-ux 11.00 systems and I have created multiple users for ftp login only.
Now these userid's contain 9 characters. It looks like (as my collegue refers to), that a user login name can contain only 8 characters as a max.

Does anyone know where I can change this?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: FTP: Login incorrect

I don't think you can change it. On trusted systems you can change the password length, but not the login name length. That is eight chars and you are stuck with it.

Sorry.

Re: FTP: Login incorrect

In trusted system you can have password length more than 8 chars. No control on chars in user name. If it is more than 8 chars, it could create problems. Also there was a patch for this-if I remember correctly.

If you are having problems for ftp for these users trim them down to 8 chars.

Re: FTP: Login incorrect

There are patches which can enable long names

"I srongly suggest as please do not create/enable long usernames on trusted/secure hp systems"

Thanks
