FTP Security question

I have a question about the recent security notification on HP-UX concerning an ftp problem which allows users root access. The suggested temporary solution is to install the recommended binaries until the patch is released.

My question is does this require a reboot?

thanks

Re: FTP Security question

No. Though you will have to recycle teh ftp service. (easiest way is to recycle inetd with inetd -c)

Re: FTP Security question

The replacement of the ftpd binary does not require a reboot. As long as the ftpd is not currently running, (check with fuser /usr/lbin/ftpd), the new binary can just be copied into place. There should be no reason to force inetd to re-read the configuration file.
