FTP transfer timeout problems (cont)

Continuing from this thread, http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=943584

Seems we are still getting remote disconnections. I'm still checking with the network people about hardware limits and have studied the man pages for ftpd and ftpaccess but have come up empty on the study.

My next question is; Are there any default file size limitations placed on FTP?

Only limitation as far as I know, coems from the filesystem you are storing the incoming files on. If the largefiles option is not enabled, it is 2GB.

No that's not the case here.

Thanks,

strongly advised :) They, i.e., network guys, make or break you. Hope you have one who know their stuff. Nothing worse than working with a fresh diploma mill graduate CCNA.

well, they are already talking about sniffers, so they seem to be in the dark as I am...

Log some ping tests, and traceroutes. See how healthy your netork is looking.

Re: FTP transfer timeout problems (cont)

Problem was traced to the port on the switch which was set to auto negotiate and was switching speeds. Thanks to all your help.
