ftpaccess Version Suppression not Working

Anyone seen this under HP-UX 11.11 with B.11.11.01.002 wu-ftpd 2.6.1 special release upgrade from software.hp.com ?

That is even with ftpd -a in /etc/inetd.conf and "greeting brief" the version/patch info of ftpd is still displayed?

It works under HP-UX 11.00 with B.11.00.01.002 wu-ftpd 2.6.1 special release upgrade.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this or knows of a work around for HP-UX 11.11

Thanks!

Do you have the following directive in ftpaccess?

suppressversion yes

David,

I did try that. I belive that only works with the older versions of ftpd but I could be mistaken.

Re: ftpaccess Version Suppression not Working

You probably need to get new ftpd binaries.

I had a problem last week with ftpuser file not working(because I waited 10 months to test security). HP support sent me new binaries and a procedure for installing it.

They did it with ftp.

If you don't have a support contract and HP doesn't object, I can send you the binaries and the procedure.

I guess my price would be 8-10 points.

:-)

Make the subject line clear so I don't slam dunk it into the spam bucket.

Steven,

I do have a support contract but it might be easier to get the fix from you if you want to drop them to me at jwilloug@mhc.net

Did HP say they planned to include the new binaries in a patch in the future? If you don't want to send me the fix HP gave you could you post the case number so I can reference it when I call them?

Thanks,
