FTPS and FDX

Hi ..
does somebody of you know if fdx and ftps is the same to be used?

fdx is a command on unix to transfer information in one of our applications.
ftps i read is a secure ftp.

i want to know if both are the same or not.
The only think i know is that both uses SSL - Socket Secure Layer ... and ip V6

but i want to be sure they are the same ...

I talk you:
we use fdx command from unix to send information as follows:

fdx -u file_name https://user:pass@ipordnsnametosendtheinformation

-u means: use a link, this is paramter located after "@".

now, we are migrating the transmission to use Tumbleweed tool, this is a window tool, i do not use unix there .. so in that tool there is an option to use FTPS but i do not know if that is the same to use fdx on unix.

please let me know.
Thanks.

Re: FTPS and FDX

fdx is not part of HP-UX and I don't see it in Google as a program, freeware or commercial. Someone may have written this, either as a script or as a program. ftps is typically ftp using SSL, but it is not part of standard HP-UX. Tumbleweed is a versatile file transfer tool but standard HP-UX only has standard ftp. You can download sftp (ftp using SSH) from HP and the open source package filezilla has both sftp and ftps.

So it's not possible to answer your question. You'll neede to find out what fdx really is (a script, an ad hoc program, freeware or a commercial product).

Re: FTPS and FDX

If you are migrating to Tumbleweed on Windows, why would you not migrate to their HPUX client as well?

Re: FTPS and FDX

according to Tumbleweed's site, their SecureTransport Server (if thats what you need to connect to) also support ssh / sftp, which is pretty readily available. Although it does seem that you are trying to hit a moving target, as previous threads have been about fdx and passwords....

has anybody actually defined what needs to be accomplished, or are they handing you software and saying "make it work"?
