Re: Full backup & Unix file system backup
You can take unix file system backup using fbackup , thro" sam u can also take backup.
about database backup , if you are using the filesystem database , then fbackup will suffice your requirements.
if you are using the raw volumes for the database , then go for some backup software such as Omni Back II 4.0 or 4.2 .
i assume you are using Oracle

Re: Full backup & Unix file system backup
For 2) See Ignite and make_tape_recovery backups:
http://software.hp.com/products/IUX/download.html
For example:
# make_tape_recovery -a /dev/rmt/XXmn -I -v -x inc_entire=vg00
For 1) Because of database schemas and file formats Databases usually come with their own reccommended backup utility. Oracle exports data.
Large files over 2 GB are also an issue. Use 'fbackup' or GNU tar for this. Here's 'fbackup':
http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/fsearch/framedisplay?top=/hpux/onlinedocs/B9106-90008/B9106-90008_top.html&con=/hpux/onlinedocs/B9106-90008/00/01/111-con.html&toc=/hpux/onlinedocs/B9106-90008/00/01/111-toc.html&searchterms=graph%7cfbackup&queryid=20031108-092132
Here's GNU tar, my preference:
