Full FSCK failing - Anything else I can do?

a lv was reduced today and then the filesystem. Its 263GB according to bdf and the volume was reduced to 250GB.Only 193GB was used. The fsadm failed due to error 16 and we stopped all application on the storage and re-attempted 6 hours later without success. The filesystem was umounted and now it wont mount. fsck -F vxfs -o full /dev/vgoradg1/orafiles fails stating errors on meta-data and dies on pass2 with fsck read failure bno = 32485229 etc..

If the step you took did not work, you are pretty much done.

Its time break out the backup tape and restore the data. After rebuilding the logical volume.

Hi,

First thing i want to know from u, You have the backup of this lv,

If it is yes, then

Recreate the lv and restore bec. after reducing the lv then there are 99% chances of corrupt data.

You should have the reliable backup

After reducing u have to recreate the lv and formate and restore the data.

I think there no chance to recover the thing.

Thanx
