Funny question on HP Terminal

Hi all

I have two HP terminal 700/96, one of them
with green on black screen, the other with gray on black.

Is there anybody out there knowing if it is possible to set the color and, if the answer is yes, how can i do?

No, there is no way to set the color. It's a hardware feature that can be specified at purchase.

The color is in the phosphor of the screen. The screens for the 700/9x series came in white, green and orange. Other than changing the actual picture tube, there is no way to change the color. These are terminals, not PCs.

The HP series of terminals are smart terminals with a lot of unique-to-HP features such as forms mode, pass-through printing, logging mode, etc. But they can be dumbed-down to a truly simple terminal like a vt100.

No way to change this except to replace the tube, as Pete and Bill mentioned. These terminals are NOT very expensive (about $150). I'd imagine you can find some cheap if you really are annoyed by either of the color patterns.

The grey on black is not very clear, you may wish to set the terminal options to reverse video, to give black letters on a grey background.
