gawk installation
I have installed gawk version 3.1.5 . I downloaded it from http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Gtk/Development/glib2-2.12.4/
after installation it not working. When i try to run gawk it gave error "sh: ./gawk: Execute permission denied."
gawk has the following permission
# ls -l gawk
-r-xr-xr-x 1 bin bin 344064 Nov 17 06:03 gawk
regards
Sunil

Re: gawk installation
I assume you mean:
http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/hppd/hpux/Gnu/gawk-3.1.5/
Did you install all the correct associated libs (gettext libiconv) first ?
Have you checked:
Files or directories permission (including SUID if applicable)
Files or directories ownership
The compatibility of executables/programs with the hardware.
PATH in the right order

Re: gawk installation
I need also to install gawk.
The notes says that I should first install libiconv and gettext.
OK.
In the installation instructions for libiconv, it is said that I should first install, amongs other stuff, gettext :
---clip---
NOTE: You should build and install the make, gettext, m4, bison and flex
packages first before building and installing libiconv.
---clip---
So for, so good.
But in the installation instructions for gettext, it is said that I should first install .... libiconv !
---clip---
NOTE: You should install the bison, flex, libiconv and make packages first
before building and installing gettext.
---clip---
Can anyone tell me how to proceed ?

Re: gawk installation
You should really start a new thread and point here, so you can assign points.
One way of installing X "first" is to swinstall both at the same time.
You might want to look at the following for swcopy, but I'm afraid you might get really confused: ;-)

Re: gawk installation
try to identify the file type via
file gawk
Perhaps it's a PA-RISC1.1 / 2.0 thing.
