gdb question

I install gdb 5.2.1 ,but when I run it . It show error:
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Can't open shared /ibrary: /usr/local/lib/libncurses.sl
/usr/lib/dld.sl: No such file or directory
Abort(coredump)

why and How can I do?

First check whether libncurses.sl is available at /usr/local/lib.

If it is present add the lib path to the
$SHLIB_PATH variable.
else
