General Unix Question

Hi Friends,

I would like to have a General Unix Question Dumps.
Can you all attached or redirect me to the Question Dumps you have.
They should not be specific to HPUX but should be in general an UNIX.

Struggling to make UNIX fundas more clear and specific.

Thanks a lot for your kind support.

Regards,
Girish

Re: General Unix Question

Thanks a lot for quick responses but none of them pointed me to questions.
I just need some General Unix questions.
They may be simple, silly, tricky, hard etc and could be 10 in number, 15, 20, 100,1000, etc.

ThankU very much,
Girish

Re: General Unix Question

Girish,

What OS do you currently know apart from UNIX? If you want "UNIX fundas more clear and specific" - then there are many many UNIX help sites around the internet that'll help you how those "fundas" are done accross the any flavours or UNIX.

The best approach though so you can become a good "UNIX Funda'ist" is to pop-in that Linux CD into your PC and give it a whirl.

Or use Google.

Re: General Unix Question

The site http://www.ugu.com is a catch all UNIX site.

Has setions on the many different flavors of UNIXes as well as beginner sections.

Many links abound on this site that will take to to the various FAQs for the flavors, comp newsgroups, recent news, etc...

May be about as close to a general UNIX site dump as one can find.

Re: General Unix Question

Hi Girish,
Actually, yes, your question is a bit confusing; what do you mean by a 'Question Dumps'? It's not a phrase that means anything to me.

What are you planning to do with the list of Unix questions? And do you just want questions, or answers too? Is this just for your personal benefit, or are you planning to train others?

If we know what you're planning to do, that will make it easier to give what you want.

Re: General Unix Question

Search with search engines. You will get a ton,

like,

http://www.erlenstar.demon.co.uk/unix/faq_toc.html
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/unix-faq/faq/

Scripting is applicable to all operating systems.

Re: General Unix Question

Hi Girish,

Check this http://bhami.com/rosetta.html A Sysadmin's Unixersal Translator (ROSETTA STONE)

Universal Command Guide is a large book which covers several of the OSs in this table. See http://www.allcommands.com/
UnixGuide.net has a similar table covering fewer Unix versions and a somewhat different set of tasks. See http://unixguide.net/cgi-bin/unixguide.cgi
coolcommands is a search engine giving one-line command examples: http://www.coolcommands.com/index.php?option=com_cc&Itemid=28
