Generate LAN-ID (MAC Address) with SN# and SWID?

How can i generate the unique LAN-ID (MAC Address) when i have the SWID and the Serialnr. on a obsolete apollo 735 Workstation? I didn't have the original Product Nr.! It is not possible with SSKey and SS_Config. The Chip has gone broken by the replacement of the CoreIO.

Re: Generate LAN-ID (MAC Address) with SN# and SWID?

do you mean that you replaced the core io board and now have a different MAC address? or are you trying to find the MAC address of an existing interface? lanscan/landiag may show that for a "working" interface.

if you replaced the core IO from having FDDI to having ethernet, you need the lan2 driver to "see" the ethernet interface rather than the fddi6 (iirc) driver to see the FDDI interface.

Hi,

You can edit file /etc/rc/config.d/hpbase100conf (the name can depend on LAN type) and insert there needed MAC-address.
