Get serial console working
Hi, gurues
I've just taken over a HP9000/J200 workstation these days, and want to acess it through serial console.
So I stopped booting at boot stage, and running "path con 8/12/4" to redirect console to Serial port 1. To be noticed that "8/12/4" is the hardware path to my serial port 1. Then I reboot my host, but weird, booting message doesn't go to serial port, and neither graphic console. some time later, some message goes to serial port, which I noticed is the output when init is running.
So now I don't know what to do. Serial console doesn't let me visit the booting stage, while graphic console doesn't work at all. Does anyone know how to reset these setting letting me reconnect console to graphic display ?
thanks in advance

Re: Get serial console working
Your system could be a little confused as to which device is the console.
On the D220's I've used in classes at HP if its got a graphic card and monitor, thats the console. Try disconnecting the serial console and see how it goes.
It could be though that the graphics card is shot and needs to be replaced and removed. This may also stop the confusion and let the serial console work the way its intended to work.

Re: Get serial console working
thanks Steven.
I disconnected the serial console, nothing go to graphic console. So I removed the graphics card and keyboard, the same thing. after init running , output goes to the serial console.
Is there any methods to reset all these setting to default? I mean to reset the console to graphic console.
