Re: getting IPL error when trying to restore from Ignite Image

Hi:

It is possible that your tape is bad. Try (if possible):

# mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn fsf 1
# tar -tvf /dev/rmt/0m

Regards!

Bad tape, bad drive, bad image.

Any of the above.

Re: getting IPL error when trying to restore from Ignite Image

ISL Revision A.00.38 OCT 26, 1994

This looks old ...

What server is it?
What OS version is running?

Do you backup and restore to the *same* machine?

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: getting IPL error when trying to restore from Ignite Image

What type of machine are you running the Ignite image on?

What type of machine are you restoring to?

The 'ISL booting hpux (;0):INSTALL' indicates a 32-bit install if I recall correctly. If you are backing up a 64-bit and trying to restore to a 32-bit, then that dog won't hunt.

Suspecting that you are trying to restore ignite image of a PARISC server to Itanium.
