Getting rid of the CDE 'Run' window
Starting a xterm from the desktop workspace menu for a session on a remote host creates the xterm for the remote host as expected. However, there is another window (dtterm) created by dtwm that is a labelled "Run". It is started in icon mode, there is nothing in it. There is no prompt for command input and manually closing it has no affect on the running xterm. Also, after the xterm is closed, the "Run" dtterm remains.
The question is, how can I have this window NOT created in the first place?
The xterm is created in a script as follows:
exec $XTERM -name $xname -title $xhostname -n $xhostname -e rlogin $xhostname &

Re: Getting rid of the CDE 'Run' window
I'm not sure what the 'Run' window is. I don't see that it in a 'stock' CDE login session.
dtwm's menus are specified in the file $HOME/.dt/dtwmrc or in the system wide file /usr/dt/config/C/sys.dtwmrc. I would guess that your dtwmrc or the system-wide one is customized, as a 'stock' dtwmrc only has
the following root menu items:
Menu DtRootMenu
{
"Workspace Menu" f.title
"Shuffle Up" f.circle_up
"Shuffle Down" f.circle_down
"Refresh" f.refresh
"Minimize/Restore Front Panel" f.toggle_frontpanel
no-label f.separator
"Restart Workspace Manager..." f.restart
no-label f.separator
"Log out..." f.action ExitSession
}
Perhaps you could post your customized version and please include the OS revision and the output from swlist -l product | grep -i CDE
Thanks.
