Gigabit Ethernet on a T600 server?

Is HP Planning on supporting Gigabit Ethernet on T600 servers?
Thanks!

Re: Gigabit Ethernet on a T600 server?

Although it is possible to install a Gigabit HSC card in a T-HSC expansion card. I don't think they ever built a driver for it. The reason being (if I remember correctly) that the bus architecture to the expander card couldn't handle the throughput. The same reasoning holds true for HSC Differential SCSI, if you hang more than 7 disks off it. That is one of the reasons they used these expansion cards to build out the HP-PB expanders. You can hang a lot of disks that way.
As for future plans, I don't know. They may have overcome the throughput issues, but I don't see them trying to prolong the already long life of the T-Class.

Pasha,

I'm sorry to have to report, that the product support plan for the HSC A4926A Gigabit card shows support only for D, R and K class servers, not for T Class. It might be possible to get one working, but it wouldn't be supported by HP. Sorry this don't help all that much,
