giving vpar an IP

Hi all,
I would like to know the steps of creation or configuration of a vpar in wich I give it an IP adress, so I can conect to it remotely by TELNET.
In creation moment, I am adding the SBA (one avaible in my case) and one LBA, I thinking I am failing in recognize wich LBA is the LAN LBA with the dmesg command...

Many Thanks!!

Re: giving vpar an IP

Give more information about present status of your system like
1. how many Vpars already running or only Npars.
2. Software status on system.
3. How many CPU's and how much memory assignment, I/O's etc..

Assuming you have one Npar installed required Vpar software then do the following:

a. Create vpar using following command
vparcreate -p -a cpu::1:4 -a mem:::4096 -a io:0/0/1/0 -a io:0/0/1/0/6/0:BOOT

check your I/O paths, no. of CPU's and memory.

b. mkboot -a "hpux -lq /stand/vpmon -a" /dev/rdsk/cXtYdZ
which makes your bootdisk boot into vpar mode.

c. shutdown -ry 0 which will reboot into vpar.

You can login using IP address into vpar by telent as long as telnet services open in vpar server.

Re: giving vpar an IP

it's a 8620, and just one vpar created for test.

boot path and SBA path were seted, yet I can't TELNET (hey! now it's a verb) it. And I am not istalling any hp-ux on vpar.

Re: giving vpar an IP

What did you install on the vPar? Was it Linux, Windows? Telnet is only available with an OS. Otherwise, you can only connect to the special management processor.

Re: giving vpar an IP

it's boot the same hpux 11.23 of the npar.

Re: giving vpar an IP

You need to check on HP-UX server for telnet service and it might have been closed

In /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf search for telnet services, if they commented out, uncomment and restart inetd.conf like:

inetd -c
ps -ef |grep inetd

kill -HUP
