I try to use GNome Desktop .
I installed B6852BA 1.4.gm.46 Ximian GNOME 1.4 Desktop on my server.
From my client i run xdm direct connection , I receive login box but nothing after .

In log I have :

more /var/opt/gnome/gdm/dhcp8096.sgp.st.com:0.log

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library

Did you install the required libraries too?

B6848BA 1.4.gm.46 Ximian GNOME 1.4 GTK+ Libraries for HP-UX 11.00 and 11i

If you downloaded this from the software server it bundles this with the desktop software as it is a dependency. If not you can download it from here:

It's my opinion that the gtk libs are NOT needed : read the link James pointed you to ->

Ximian GNOME for HP-UX is a modern, highly customizable desktop environment that runs on top of the X Window System, as an alternative to CDE. The GTK+ libraries are included in the Ximian GNOME 1.4 Desktop depot. If you have downloaded that depot, you do not need to download this product.

So this is more likely to be something else.

I'd also suggest you try the following, comment on your current language/locale setting, if it's not set to C you can alter it via gnome front panel see the language option.

Other suggestions : can you also try connecting via CDE again this can be done from gnome initial login panel see sessions.

Steve -> Thanks for your link. Yes I put a good export in /sbin/init.d/gdm.rc .

Now I lost a bad message in log. I progress. But I still have only login box and after nothing. I think my reflection X received a reset ? May be a problem with auth ?
