GNOME on HPUX 11i
I have downloaded the package from www.software.hp.com for Ximian GNOME 1.4 and expected it to run straight away! I appreciate I should have known better, but has anyone managed to get the desktop to launch using hummingbord eXceed?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: GNOME on HPUX 11i
I think you just need to enable xdm in the gdm.conf file. It is located in /etc/opt/gnome/gdm. If you look under the section [xdmcp] and change Enable to true. I think you need to bounce gnome for this to take effect.
Also, if this is a workstation note this link for a fix for the gnome startup issues provided by Mike Stroyan :

See this link.
http://www.software.hp.com/products/GNOME/install.html
It tells you how to switch your default environment from CD to GNOME

Re: GNOME on HPUX 11i
change the line
DESKTOP=CDE
to
DESKTOP=GNOME
then
/sbin/init.d/gdm.rc start
if you get a message saying that gdm is already running do this
/sbin/init.d/gdm.rc stop
/sbin/init.d/gdm.rc start
