Gold Base/Apps
Why does it appear (using swlist) that an installation of *either* GOLDBASE11i *OR* GOLDAPPS11i show *BOTH* as being installed?
I'm under the impression that the two different packs are for two different purposes (targets). Base for the base system, and the Apps for the installed applications.
After the first GOLDxxx is installed, even though both now swlist, should the other be swinstalled anyway?

Re: Gold Base/Apps
Hi Glen:
Either bundle's contents is the same:
As noted on the Patch Database: "Both the GOLDBASE11i and GOLDAPPS11i bundles including their respective patches are delivered within the same depot."
http://www1.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/releasePage.do?BC=main|releaseIndexPage|&releaseId=5013-3724
That said, the *bundle name* of "GOLDBASE 11i" or "GOLDAPPS11i" is recorded in the Installed Patch Database ('/var/adm/sw/'). The individual patches contained within each bundle are the same and are (of course) installed only once.
Regards!

Re: Gold Base/Apps
Glen,
I asume you've installed the QualityPack for 11i, it contains both the Apps and base bundle.
When selecting the Base bundle it could be that it will install patches either partial or complete from the apps bundle due to patch dependencies.
You can check this when selecting one of these bundles, which patches are marked for install.
Check the following link:
http://www5.itrc.hp.com/service/rsb/rsbDisplay.do?fileName=patches_main/hpux_bundles_qpk.htm
