Now I need to Install OS 11.31 on all of them
I have never used Golden Image or Ignite.
I would like to know which one of them would be a better option to use to Install OS on all of my 10 servers.
And Initially on how many servers do I need to install the OS so that I can install simultaneously on all the servers without connecting the external DVD to each one of them.
Also what Do I have to do on the other servers for the install to take place.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Solution1) install an ignite server somewhere
2) Cold install the first server, configure it to your liking
3) use make_net_recovery to backup the OS
4) boot the remaining 9 servers from the ignite server using the image from the first server assuming that the other 9 servers HW is compatible ( if not, read the chapter in the ignite admin guide on how to create Golden Images from distro media )
(there are also some other methods using DRD or mirror/ux to swap hard drives but that can be a different topic if you like)
BTW, Why not say thanks to all the people that have been assisting with your questions by assigning points !! Just click on your name to find links to all your previous threads. If you get too far behind you may find that no one is responding to your posts.

Re: Golden Image/Ignite
Golden image is part of the Ignite tool set. It is called an Ignite Golden Image.
Best bet here is to install the OS on one of the servers, then take a golden image and use it to replicate the other 9 systems. Ignite configuration can handle changing the hostnames and the ip addresses.

Re: Golden Image/Ignite
I now have two systems with 11.31 running on them..
How can I Ignite the others
Do I need to install Ignite UX on both of the servers I have..
After installing Ignite-UX what are the steps/commands I should run on my other 8 servers and what are the steps/commands that I should run on my two servers on which HPUX 11.31 is already running.
from some of the previous threads I found the below links for ignite
Information on Ignite can be found here:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=IGNITEUXB
Documentation for Ignite:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/IUX/infolib.html
But if you Gurus can help me out with the commands I need to run on the 8 servers... and the commands that I need to run on the first 2 servers.. it would be great
PS: I have assigned points to the previous posts.. and to the ones I have missed out.. I will definately assign.Just to assure you all that I will assign wonderful points to all the posts...
