The GSP is the Guardian service processor installed in the modern HP servers that monitors the machine at a low level with reporting on the hardware state of the machine.
It also has the serial/UPS/remote interfaces to connect the machine to a console/webconsole.
Check out http://docs.hp.com and have a look at the L-class under stsyem hardware.
