GUI access to /etc/default/security?
Dear All,
Because of an on-going security audit on our HP-UX 11.11 rp3440's, I have been asked to provide a screen shot of the default security settings for new users.
As far as I'm aware, this is only possible by viewing /etc/default/security and only password ageing config is accessible via SAM GUI. If there are any other built-in HP-UX GUI's which would show this info or a menu option I'm missing in SAM, please let me know.
The best I've got so far is a screenshot of a dtterm in Exceed with the /etc/default/security file cat'ed.
(Current cumulative SAM patching is PHCO_31314).
Thanks in advance

Re: GUI access to /etc/default/security?
Is the screenshot in dtterm not good enough for them?
If showing them in a GUI is the best way to accomplish this, and you would like it in SAM, this is fairly easy to accomlish. SAM has a feature called "Add Custom Application" that lets you pretty much add whatever you want in SAM. It's under the Actions tab.
Give it an offical looking label, like "User Security Settings" or something like that, for the command, run 'cat /etc/default/security' or whatever you want, enable it for Graphical Environments, and away you go. (I'm sure you could even find a good Icon to give it, like a lock or something.)
Hope it helps
John

You are incorrect sir.
These files can be edited safely from vi on the command line.

Try to do all systems administration tasks from the command line, because there are circumstances that often happen that require this.
