HA - NFS package towards NT

Hi,

I setup a HA-NFS cluster so that a filesystem could me mounted by remote clients; I have both ux and nt clients. With ux client I can easily mount the filesystem with the package ip as remote host. Wiht the NT clients I am not able to do this: the package ip doesn't appear in the NFS list; I tried to write it but the mapping doesn't work.
I can only map using the hostname of the master, but when the package switches the mapping is lost.

Can you help me? Does any software that performs this operation exist?

Thanks,
regards,
Alessio

Alessio,

Are you are trying to failover Samba?

If so, I can provide some help... there is some documentation available. Post back and let me know, and I'll see if I can post up some detailed docs.

As I recall (it's been a while since I've done it myself), the big thing is that the Samba server must have the same NETBIOS name on both servers, and you cannot use an active/active configuration as only one Samba server can run on any UNIX instance. (ie: you cannot have 2 different Samba server running at the same time on the same machine.)

So, go active/passive for Samba, and be sure you failover the IP address associated with the Samba NETBIOS name.

Good luck!
No matter where you go, there you are.
