Re: Happy New year

Hi,

happy new year. Globalisation is bs. The statement "you cant avoid GL" is only a new version of "socialism cant be avoided, it is then inevatable course of history.". We are supposed to get hypnotized and fall asleep, so they can continue with their evil business. This crazy competition is madness.

I wish you well at aour work,

Michael

A prosperous year to us all!

Continual contribution to this forum is a real plus to the Unix Community.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Linux with all the SCO stuff going on.

Re: Happy New year

Happy New Year to everyone!

I think one thing we need to do this year, for the benefit of everyone, is gently help our employers to understand that they probably need to hire more staff if they can. Don't know about everyone else, but we're struggling to ramp business with the downsized staff from the economy of 2 years ago.

Best wishes,
Mic

Re: Happy New year

Okay, Happy 2004 to everyone!

(But please do not assign any points to this greeting, because my greeting is not an ITRC Forum response. If I ever earn a hat, I don't want it to be because of greetings.)

The challenge that I see for 2004 and on is: many enterprise applications are being migrated from UNIX to WINTEL because managers seem to be more comfortable with Windows. However, oftentimes the performance and administration of such apps is much harder on Windows than on UNIX and not as scalable, but they don't realize that at time of purchase. We must continue to find ways that UNIX adds value over Windows and succeed in enlightening those who make the purchasing decisions as to the better choice.

Re: Happy New year

Have a great new year all!!!

I'm not sure if I will or not. I may have to re-install NOVELL back on my HP-UX boxes. I got rid of it back in 1996 when we were on version 3.1 Inodes and bindarys don't mix very well. They released a new version that works with HP-UX, and since my boxes are the most stable they are jumping at the chance to plop it on them.

More power for us?

Less power to Microsoft?

Another disater?

Who knows... Only time will tell.

-Brian.

P.S. Is it just me, or has SAM, and Openview NNM been frozen in time to continue to look and feel like a 80's product? Isn't it 2004?

A belated happy new year from all of us that have been idling away from 24th December until today the 5th January. I seem to have forgotten what work was during our enforced factory shutdown.
I have even missed the forums!!!

Missing the forums may be sad, but it's nowhere near as sad as logging on from home! I resisted the temptation!
