Re: Has performance improved in the Forums?

Hi Gang!

...I can't resist posting this piece of trivia: This thread now has over 100 replies (this addition being 101, unless someone gets there ahead of me). I think this is a record, although there have certainly been a few debates and "diversionary" threads that have come close.

Regards!

Re: Has performance improved in the Forums?

Make this reply 102! :-)

I was writing a reply to a question and forgot the spelling of a contributing author. Soooo, I spawned another window in IE5.5 and hit the back button. When I did this I received the following error:

Error processing SSI file '/cm/QuestionAnswerContent/1,1154,LoggedIn!0xceab53921f1ad5118fef0090279cd0f9!0!1!0!0!0,00.html'

I then copied the text I was about to submit and then hit the back button on my main browser window and I received the same error message, so this shows that it did not matter which instance of the browser I used. I hope this helps. Otherwise the forums have seemed more responsive to me. Thanks for making my favorite online forum better.

Jason V.

Re: Has performance improved in the Forums?

Hi,

Performance in the forums is really crawling since around an hour back till now. I was facing "Page cannot be found" errors while submitting replies as well as repeated SSI errors while getting to the main index page:

Error processing SSI file '/cm/FamilyHomeContent/1,1152,LoggedIn!117,00.html'

Had made wasted efforts in posting replies which other have already replied, clarifying what others have already clarified while I was busy struggling to refresh or resubmit away the "Page not found" errors. :)

Does Vignette Storyserver have any clustering solution for load-balancing performance? I understand that Vignette Storyserver is not cheap in price...

Regards.

Re: Has performance improved in the Forums?

Today (3/29/01 @ 7:00 am CST) performance has been TERRIBLE. I have been experiencing numerous errors. My connection has timed out, I have been told my connection is refused, and I have also recevied the message "10022 Invalid Argument". Once I finally get to the forum, I have even had a difficult time advancing to the next page. Sometimes my ITRC Forum e-mail links work and sometimes they do not.

Re: Has performance improved in the Forums?

It appears like the hp DNS servers are sucking wind today.
Response is many seconds and most PC requests are set to 2 seconds and time out before getting an answer from DNS.

Re: Has performance improved in the Forums?

Looking at the Javascript source, the http://welcome.hp.com/country/img/... files have an expiration of 30 minutes. This could be changed to 12 hours or something more reasonable and they would not have to be downloaded so much by all users.

Re: Has performance improved in the Forums?

Is there any plan to get this forum setup so that it can be monitored from the desktop through a mail or news client? That would be far more convenient than the present method of having to login to the forum website.

Thanks,
