HDS 9980 and alternate paths
Hi !
We currently have a 3 veritas cluster runing ORACLE RAC with cluster filesystem. We are in a process of putting extra HBA's into the machines which are rp8400. The HBA's have been putted into the machines and zoned in. The os can see the disks , they are all claimed.have done a ioscan, insf, vxdisk scandisks, vxdctl enable. And also insf -e has been tried. And I have checked that scsi 3 persitant reservation are enabled on the disks
Here comes the funny part, some of the extra disk paths are seen from veritas and some not, When I then do a diskinfo on the disk it returns
diskinfo: can't open /dev/rdsk/c25t9d5: Device busy
I can read the info with lssf
micpe@tm026[ /var/adm/syslog ]>s lssf /dev/rdsk/c25t9d5
sdisk card instance 25 SCSI target 9 SCSI LUN 5 section 0 at address 0/0/14/0/0/4/0.3.26.0.0.9.5 /dev/rdsk/c25t9d5
and that info are correct. I'm runing the latest hds firmware and jun05 patch kit on my machine.
We have tried rebooting one machine out of 3, and that helped a lot, all path came and was fine. But this should be an online thing. Any one who has seen this before or having some ideas

Re: HDS 9980 and alternate paths
Mich,
I would say sometimes it does need a reboot.
But I had a similar problem, all I did i bind the LUNs from the software and ensured that the LUNs are seen by the system.
If that does not work try to move the disks from one channel to other so that they will be visible from then on...
This is what i did few years ago...
cheers...007
