Re: heartbeat query
> hear beat disk .. i hope you are talking about lock disk /lock lun .
Heartbeat is the time interval in which cluster
nodes sends updates to the "cmcld" deamons
running on various nodes to confirm membership & updates.
Where as "lock disk " or "lock Lun" is used for
preventing split brain scenarios.
Hope this help or you may explain the query a bit more.
Thanks

Re: heartbeat query
You need to configure heartbeat in cluster.conf.ascii file generally it`s kept as
6000000 i,e 6 seconds ,depends on requirements
as well
Thanks

Re: heartbeat query
Yes himacs!!. I know what your talking about. The concept of "disk heartbeat" is as of my knowledge not available in the HPUX operating system with MCSG but is a concept of a cluster on AIX. On an HPUX operating system the terminology "heartbeat" refers to checking if the node in a cluster is alive which is typically done by the cluster coordinator. Heartbeat on Serviceguard on HPUX O.S is typically dealt with by sending of heartbeat messages accross a dedicated heartbeat LAN or heatbeat/data LAN. That is why the terminology "package" on HP service guard typically talks about resources of the disks, network as well as services and it is this entity as a whole that failsover to the other node of the cluster.
