Help Deleting Print Jobs

Im trying to delete a print job on a HP Laserjet 4200 PLC6. I started the job yesterday however, I was printing the wrong thing. After about 15 pages I realized what happened and then cancled the job. Now, nothing will print and all it has said for the last 24 hours is "Deleting - Printing." Is there some trick for a large a file or this one just being a pain.

Re: Help Deleting Print Jobs

If you have cancelled from the OS and it does not show with the lpstat command, power cycle the printer.

Do make sure when the printer is back on that it is ONLINE.

Also check via the OS that it is accepting and enabled

lpstat -t | grep
This will provide you the info

Re: Help Deleting Print Jobs

sorry, Im not an IT guy. I have tried to cancel the job in Windows. The printer says that there are no jobs to cancel. There is no reason for the printer no to be online. I think this is more of Windows problem than a printer problem. Either way, I cant print and cant make this job disappear.

Sorry Ben, this HPUX forum.

Still, I would physically check the printer to ensure it is ONLINE. Can you ping the printer? Is it a network printer?

Re: Help Deleting Print Jobs

Virtually all HP printers made in thwe last 5 years that have a front panel will have a cancel feature. Find your printer manual or download a copy from HP, or you may be able to find it in the JOB CONTROL menu on the printer. CANCEL JOB will read all the data from the computer and any data currently being formatted and throw the data away. The computer thinks the job is complete and the printer will be ready for the next job.
