Help Npar crashed ....

I have a rp7420 with two npars and 3 vpars per npar. I rebooted one of the vpars and it didn't come back. Went to the MP> and found the following:

Partitions will NOT be invoked for crash handling.
A hard reset will be generated

TO OVERRIDE THIS BEHAVIOR, PRESS A KEY WITHIN 10 SECONDS...
Resetting machine (HARD)...

It is staying at that and has not come back. I don't know what to do now. Any ideas?

Re: Help Npar crashed ....

Hi Devine,
Crash processing for a virtual partition's OS is similar to the crash processing on a non-vPars OS: the OS is quiesced, portions of memory are written to disk, and in the case of vPars, resources are released to the monitor.

Please read the follow link, It will help you.

Re: Help Npar crashed ....

So are you saying that after the VPar was rebooted, the whole NPar crashed and is now no longer booting up?

I would check your firmware versions on the server, and also ask what version of HP-UX and what version of VPars are you using.

Re: Help Npar crashed ....

Hi Burnard....the firmware is the latest because he was in just before xmas to upgrade it all. The OS is HP-UX 11.11 and I have no idea what version the vpars are at....how can I find that out?

Yes, I simply rebooted a vpar with the shutdown command and that was the message that I found on the GSP when the vpar wouldn't come back up.

Re: Help Npar crashed ....

Use swlist to check what version of Vpars you are using. Also check what version of iCOD software is in use, if it is indeed installed.

Re: Help Npar crashed ....

Hi Sally,

Do you have PHKL_28764 installed?

PS: search for "crash" in this doc...

HP helped out and the firmware needs to be upgraded again.

Thanks for all the help!
