Help with HIDS

I am planning to update our IDS to version 04.07 in order to rid it's dependency to java 1.5, I am not overly familiar with IDS.  It doesnt appear we are really using it, in that there are no schedules created and no processes running.  I was trying to use the "idsadmin" command and got "ERROR not running as user ids" message.  Just wondering if anyone new more about IDS than me, which would be most ...
