Help!!

I have an HP 9000 running UNIX v. 9.4. The system is crashed. It has a bad hard drive. I have a replacement hard drive and the original software on tapes. I do not know the first thing about re-installing it. HP will not support the old software, and I have not found anyone who will. Thank you!

Re: Help!!

Do you have a system backup made with copyutil? If so, the re-install will be rather easy otherwise this will require a cold install of the OS. Do you have the original OS install media if you do not have a copyutil image?
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Help!!

the original media will bring the system to it's original state, and you'll have to re-create all the users..etc.

replace the hard drive then boot from the media and re-install...

what model system do you have?

The tongue weighs practically nothing, but so few people can hold it

Re: Help!!

The model is HP 9000 - 817S.
All of our data is on other drives, so the user info should still be there.
