Hi. I have problem with oracle after upgrade from 9.2.0.4.0 to 9.2.0.6.0

I dit upgrade (applying patches) and now oracle is not listening on 8080 port. Do you know what I mean? Could you help somehow?

Did you relink the binaries?

Sometimes this helps.

I'd also consider booting the box to see if things get cleared up.

There is a script called root.sh that might need to be re-run to properly enable the httpd server to serve the port.

May I ask why you upgraded? Did you run into a specific issue. WE are at 9.2.0.4.0 right now.

1.yes this is for xdb.
2. No no other application uses this port
3. it seems as it doesn't start for some reason :(

lets see the log from the startup script for oracle.

My first response whenever an oracle app gives me a headache is to relink. It solves the problem about half the time.

Make sure also the oracle binary filesystem is not too full.

Hi. there is nothing in alertlog for oracle related to this.
Before there were Listening on: ...... (PORT=8080))....
Listening on: .... (PORT=2100)).......
in listener.log
and now there is nothing abaut 8080

What port does it show it is listening on?

have you made changes to the init.ora file for this database ?
Do you have in init.ora file :
dispatchers="(PROTOCOL=TCP) (SERVICE=odmdbXDB)"
(odmdb is your database name)

furthermore, if you want to change the default port number for XDB (XML Database)(http is 8080 and ftp is 2100) please refer to Metalink Note:209564.1 : "XDB: Utility package to change the HTTP and FTP ports used by XML DB."

Have you tried to stop / re-start your listener and check with lsnrctl status (if you use default listener) ?

Hi Marcin,

ORACLE XML DATABASE is a a new feature of release 9.2. This new feature includes a HTTP server, which serves port number 8080 by default. This HTTP server registers itself with the listener, after the database has been started and port number 2100 (related to FTP). These components come together.
The entry in inidr.ora dispatchers='(PROTOCOL=TCP) (SERVICE=ORACLE9XDB)'.

And this should be seen in your LSNRCTL STATUS command.

It is possible the change the port numbers 8080 and 2100. You need to log into Enterprise Manager as SYSDBA, bring up the XML database configuration tab and change the http-port to something other than 8080.

As jean mentioned I attached the document that describes how to alter the ports which an XML DB uses for HTTP and FTP

There must be additional line
with IP of the server.
