HIDS fails to deploy Template to Itanium Agent

I have 15 systems in a test enviroment. 14 Agents and one Admin/Agent system. They are all various Hardware and Software Versions. One machine is an Itanium 11.23 System acting as a HIDS agent. Intermittently the Itanium Fails when I deploy a new template to it. The following error occurs

idsagent: error trying to shutdown a process. This only occurs on the IA-64 Box all PA-RISC boxes are fine.

Stop/start ids agent and deploy template.

Verify /var/opt/ids/logs/error.log file in client.

Hi Derek -

This error message is mentioned in Table G-1 (p.377) of the V4.0 Admin Guide. The main agent process (idsagent) is timing out waiting for other processes (idscor probably) to terminate as part of stopping the old schedule before starting the new schedule.

Errors in /var/opt/ids/error.log might provide some clues why this is happening.

If you do a "status" of the agent from the GUI after activating the new schedule and it returns "Running" or "Scheduled," you should be ok. You can make sure by performing some action where you expect an alert to be generated by HIDS for the new schedule.
