Greetings, I have a c240 acting as a fileserver that gets hit hard by about 10-15 CAD/EE users. During the day the load goes up to 8. At 7am the next morning with nobody on the system the load is still high, 6+. The machine is 90% idle and the main window of Glance shows a very quite system. Any ideas?

Re: High load on quit server
How many of those people leave their connections open to the fileserver all night/morning long?
What kind of measurements are you getting from glance?
WHat are the "top" processes?

Re: High load on quit server
Hi harry, about half the users don't end their sessions, some of them still have the applications up and running. The main window of glance shows a very quit system and the top processes are: vxfsd, automount, upsd, statedaemon, X, midaemon, syncer, dtlogin, swapper, pdclientd. I'm starting to see more nfs type processes at the top now, rpc.statd, rpc.lockd, nfsd,... But still the first 8 appears to dominated the top processes. vxfsd is always getting a lot of time and I have a hfs filesystems on my server.
