Re: /home files are deleted

If you can't login in as root and the /home directory permissions do not allow for other users, then you need to talk to the root admin to help you login.

If you have root then you can log in as root and copy over some of the files from another user or pull them in from backup.

If you are root and can't login, then you have to get access to the console and boot single user mode to get the files restored.

Re: /home files are deleted

Did you delete all of /home, or just your ID?

If you deleted just your id, make the the directory under /home for your ID, and copy all of the files that start with dot (.) from another(working) ID directory. assign the ownership of the files and directory to your ID.

If you deleted all of the id in /home use sam to create a new id and perform the steps above

Re: /home files are deleted

Yes , I have deleted all the id's , I made attempt to open SAM , but its giving error messages like this

/usr/sbin/sam[198] : /dev/null cannot find or open the file
Sorry , you must a super user ROOT priviliages to enter SAM
/usr/sbin/sam[222] : cannto create the specified file

/usr/sbin/sam[222] : cannto create the specified file

But Iam root user only.
